Valentine's Day - No flowers for gf but hampers for customers.?

Hi, I've posted the qn on the implication of not getting any flowers on Valentine's Day and what shocked me is he can order online CNY hampers for his customers (from noel gifts) but not any flowers for me. I spent 2 evenings till late shopping for his presents and card (and spent quite a sum) but I get cheapskate stationary for my presents. I really don't know what to say. I feel very sad. I got a feeling he's trying to "educate" me in not receiving any flowers on V-Day in the future and I'm not an understanding gf if I ask for them (in that I want him to burn a hole in the pocket) 'coz they are extremely expensive on that day.

I think I know how you feel. I have a daughter who is a florist. For the past several Valentine's days, she's really hated the day because she spends all day for a week getting beautiful arrangements ready for other men to give to their girlfriends, and at the end of the day, nobody sends her flowers. So this year, she has a boyfriend, and he did not send her flowers because he thought that she wouldn't like them, working around flowers all day as she does.

Sometimes men just need to know that you would really like a certain thing, and they should all know that most women consider flowers to be a perfectly romantic and charming gift. It shows you are thinking of her as a thing of beauty. Or whatever, it just shows you care enough to spend way too much money on something that will die in a few days, but for all of the girls who don't get flowers, they just resent all of those girls who do!
Reply:Tell him flowers aren't the only things to buy on VDay. A dinner out, a pair of earrings, etc...
Reply:Well u know that it is not suppose to be the cost, it should be the fact that he got you anything. I tell people that they do not need to go out and spend a lot of money, after all is it not suppose to be about how you feel about each other, just a hug, kisses, I love you should be enough for anyone, cause you are getting the real thing then, not something that you can buy, not always the things that you buy are the best presents. Maybe he just did not know what to get you, cause all day he orders flowers for people, thinking , well that is so common. Remember you did not have to stay out late and get him something that cost a lot of money, you did it cause you wanted to, but also you were expecting him to think the same way as you were, the cost. That is not what it is about....
Reply:Hi. As a girl i can understand your feelings. However, he might not know what you are thinking and some guys just do not know how to express their feelings or care. Although you think that he's trying to 'educate' you, he might think that it's the thought that counts and not the gift. So maybe you should try to talk to him first and see what's his reasons for not getting you flowers?
Reply:Does he do things for you throughout the rest of the year? If so, I'd quit complaining if i were you. If not then it's time to re-consider the relationship.
