My step-daughter will be graduation 8th grade in 2 weeks. She lives with us full time. I'm not sure what I should get her for a gift. I don't want to make it to extravogant, we have high school graduation in 4 years.
My mom gave me flowers and took me out to dinner that night. Then on a weeked she trough me a party.
What is the proper etiquette now a days?
What do I get my step-daughter for her 8th grade graduation?
I have always found that something for the computer they use for homework is a nice touch.
ME!
or perhaps even her own computer for her room, with limited online access.

Reply:when I graduated grade 6, my mom asked what I wanted, as she wanted to buy me a gift, I asked her for girl stuff: expecting things like lip gloss, magazines, hair accessories, make up, gift cards for clothing stores, bath products, candies, anything considered girly and directed towards teens. Instead I got a gift bag of soap, tampons and pads, razors and other feminine hygiene products. :((
I was with my dad for gr.8 and graduating wasn't a big deal, I considered it a bit of a joke, as I had become quite critical of the education system and policies of the school I was attending. I thought it was silly to celebrate finishing grade 8, as high school graduation was the only one I ever considered to be of any significance.
Reply:I would get her a piece of jewelry. Something moderately priced. Something that represents who she is as a person. I got my daughter a gold chain with a small golden cross. It is something she can keep for years to come. Do not forget to get her a card and let her know how proud you are of her. Especially for a step parent I think it is important that you get her a gift and or card just from you, not just from you and your husband. Enjoy the next 4 years, they will be turbulent but go by so fast!
Reply:hi,
according to me i'll tell offer her something wat u would do if it was your daughter.forget about the step and offer her something good and surprise her.gifts can be like a necklace, ring,a handbag, gown to wear on her graduation, something nice to her bedroom etc.
Reply:A bouquet of flowers with a metallic balloon is nice. You can also buy her a new TV or a gift card to a clothing store.
I miss my eighth grade graduation. I had an awesome time at the eighth grade dance. %26lt;sigh%26gt; That was 12 years ago...
Reply:Sounds like what your mother did was lovely. There is no 'ettiqutte'.
You should know your step-daughter pretty well-chose something you thing she would enjoy. Even something simple like a locket or charm bracelet would be nice.
Reply:My father bought me a simple gold necklace for my 8th grade graduation. Nothing extravagant, but very pretty.
Reply:Why not go to the salon and have a mani/ pedi and some highlights so she looks great for her graduation? My niece loved it when I took her. Only cost me about 75 bucks.
Reply:well does she have an ipod if not get her an ipod
Reply:maybe take her out clothes shopping and to lunch at the mall or something
you get to spent time with her, and she gets a present for the job well done
Reply:I'd say a tennis bracelet and dinner...
Reply:jewlery, nothing too expensive, just a little token.
Reply:flowers take her out to eat and money and when i got home there was a cake waiting for me that's what i got
Reply:Money! Dinner is nice or a party. I would get her some sort of necklace.
