I got a rozalea for a gift 1 1/2 weeks ago and repotted in a bigger pot. 2 days ago the pretty light lavender flowers started to wilt, which I expected to happen, but also along with the healthy green leaves that are falling off their branches. I have it next to a window and I keep the soil moist but not dry,so what could I be doing wrong? It looks really sad!!!
What's wrong with my potted rozalea?
It sounds like you repotted your plant into TOO BIG of a pot. Normally you only go up one pot size at a time 6" to an 8" to a 10" etc. If there's more soil then there are roots, you'll develop root rot. If you only went up one size, make sure your pot has drainage holes, no drainage is a ticket to death for all plants. Also, make sure when you water you SOAK the whole root ball, not just a cup full on the top. Stick your finger down in the pot, atleast 3 inches down, when it feels just barely moise, SOAK IT! Again, jusr make sure ther water is draining! Hope this helps, if you have any questions feel free to contact me! Don't forget to fertilize!
Reply:I think that you mean AZALEA plant.
You received a potted plant -- BUT it is naturally an outdoor plant -- NOT an indoor plant. It is sad because it wants to be outside!!
Nursery grown azalea plants meant for indoor bloom do not always "make it" when planted outside.
If you live in a climate that is meant for Azaleas, you can plant it in a sunny-morning, shade-afternoon site.
Check with a nursery near you for additional tips.
Good Luck!!
