How old is too old to play with dolls?

Our two nieces are the flower girls in our upcoming wedding. I was thinking of getting them these little flower girl dolls that are really cute, as their gifts. They are 7 and 9. Are they too old for that?

How old is too old to play with dolls?
theyr still a good age for that, though the 9year old may b maturing and not like it

depends on the girls, are they real mature?
Reply:oh, I think that would be a great gift and something they will treasure for a very long time!!! How sweet of you to think about that. The 9 year old may not actually 'play' with her, but when I was that age I enjoyed fixing there hair and setting them up to be pretty
Reply:I would get them a cute necklace or charm bracelet instead,

something with their initials engraved or even a jewerly box with their initial engraved.
Reply:Sounds like a great idea. Keepsakes. However they can't actually 'play' with them like I'd imagine the 7 year old would want to do. I personally don't feel they're too old for porcelain dolls (if they are collecting them already). Final note: I recall a time when I was about 9 that I was a flower girl and the bride gave me a very nice necklace....I still treasure it to this day. Just a thought.
Reply:My girls are 6.5 and 8.5 and still play with dolls, baby dolls,Barbies, Polly Pockets etc. My mother in laws buys them porcelain dolls all the time as a keepsake they would be thrilled if they had one they could actually play with. And it can be a keepsake when they are older, I think it is a great idea.
Reply:For the type of dolls you are describing and the way they look,no they are not too old. Plus the 9 year old will put it up for display so it'll look pretty and the 7 year old will play with hers and make sure she is mature enough to handle the doll. Two of my neices are those age and they LOVE dolls.
Reply:No.. I'm 11, and already matured enough for my age, and I only hate porcelain dolls. Vinyl is my favorite, so if the 9 year old doesn't like por. get her a vinyl doll with a fancy dress on. I still play with a lot of my dolls, like barbies, and baby dolls still! So If she doesn't want it, just don't make her have it. You should never ever force a child to do something they dont want to do.
Reply:No, I played with dolls until I was 14. My daughters still do it and they are seven and ten, and my ten-year-old like to think she is a teenager, too.
Reply:borderline a charm bracelet might be better
Reply:I think you can give porcelain to any age girl. They dont have to be played with they can be ornamental dolls. I think that would make a nice gift.
Reply:No, porcilain dolls are not for playing, they are for collecting and displaying.

It's not like you're giving them cabbage patch dolls.

It would be fine.
Reply:Definitely not. My daughter's are eight and they have the whole set of dolls. They love dolls. They are only young. I think about 14 is too old to play with dolls. But its really the imagination of the child to be playing with dolls
Reply:i agree that a charm bracelet would be better. Porcelan dolls could get broken if played with and could cause injuries. Dolls like that are meant to be in a shelf or on a stand and not played with.
Reply:depends on the child. most 9 year olds will still play with dolls. at that age they usually act is if they are much older one minute and then like a kid again the next. especially with the dolls being porcelain, I think that a good gift but it depends on the child. You might want to ask their mom if they would like something like that. or maybe a nice bracelet.
Reply:try asking their mother!
Reply:Sorry I misread, and again my answer is no. My nieces are the same age and they still ask me to get them those brat dollz.. my other niece is 12 and she loves them.
Reply:The dolls are beautiful and the girls will love them.

Honestly, I played with dolls until I was nearly 15. It depends on the kids. But all girls, even mature ones, love beautiful presents.

Ask their mom if they would like the dolls. If she says yes, you're golden. If she says they are more into something else, then get them something else!
Reply:u can never be to old for that kinda doll
