Is it appropriate to get your boss some type of gift when leaving your job?

We have a really good work relationship and I have been here for 2 years, I am moving on to a better opportunity, is it appropriate to get a small token gift and card to say thanks for everything etc? Like a flower or candle or something? THis is not for xmas necessarily, but just as a thanks for the support. Do you think this is appropriate or would it be more awkward?

If your working relationship was pleasant (check) - and the reason you're leaving WASN'T related to any wrongdoing on either of your parts (ALSO a check) - then it is perfectly acceptable, and will be MUCH appreciated ;);););)
Reply:It is quite alright
Reply:I feel a nice thank you card would be great. A gift is awkward...
Reply:I don't think it's inappropriate but to me it'd be awkward as an employee. Probably the boss would really appreciate it but to me it'd be weird to be giving him/her something as a "goodbye present". I've never done it at any of my jobs and 2 of my ex bosses were people whom I had a great relationship with.... but no, no gift was given. But that's just me...
Reply:It's appropriate, you're not doing anything wrong.
