What type of flower is this??

I got this flower as a gift and have no idea what it is but people seem to love it but I can't tell them anything about it.



All I know is that it started with only three stalks at the beginning of this summer and more and more stalks with huge leaves have been popping up.

It is a lovely dwarf canna , as has already been said. Yes follow those same instructions. If your ground freezes solid, you need to left them in the fall after the first frost. store the bulbs in old panty hose, or in a plastic bag if it is really dry where you will keep them, in a cool dry dark place, until the ground warms uo well in the spring..

Reply:Hi, It is a CANNA flower and IN New England the bulb, is not hearty, so dig it up IN NEW ENGLAND and slightly let dry and pack in sand or vermiculite until February, and then Soak it . Then re-pot and put it in a sunny window for the spring, until you can put it out

as far as I know, your zones and my are pretty much the same. When it is 4,5,6, that is a consistent answer no matter the State you live in. Massachusetts can go as high as 6+ almost 7 down on Cape Cod, But that is WAY different than the most common Massachusetts readings

Dig them up and bring them in for the harsh Winter PLEASE!!!
Reply:I live in Missouri, zone 5 and never dug up my canna lily roots. They were, however, planted in a southern exposure, near the cement foundation, so that helped them over-winter.
Reply:It could possibly be a Hibiscus. If the Flower gets as big as a plate and gets a large stem in the middle.
