I will be a father to a baby girl here any day and I do not know what type of gift to get my new daughter.?

I am getting my wife a bouquet of her favorite flowers. Someone said I am supposed to get my daughter roses. Is that true? If so, how many, what color? I don't know if this is some tradition or good luck thing or what?

get her a soft doll, no roses she will have the doll alot longer than the rose.
Reply:Awww - how sweet! I never heard of the roses thing. I'm sure anything you get her will be appreciated. I would just get her a small stuffed animal or a baby doll. Maybe get a blanket made with her name, birth date, how much she weighed and how long she was at birth. THAT would be cute!

My husband went to build a bear and made our daughter a bear. We put her heartbeat in it. (At the dr's office, my dr made a recording of her heartbeat when I was pregnant with her). TOO CUTE!
Reply:If you did roses, I'd do pink, but you really don't need to get anything. I know of a lot of Daddies that give jewelry to mom and baby--something she can have once she turns a certain age. I'd get a necklace or earrings--something really nice, with a letter to be opened on her 16th birthday. Have your wife hold onto it for her.
Reply:Don't buy anything! Your daughter will not know!

be loving, patient, understanding and financially ready for her...that's PLENTY!
Reply:I haven't heard of the roses thing - if that is what you want to get I would get red or Pink.

I think a nice gift would be a baby locket or a baby bracelet. Obviously she would be too little to wear it but it would be something that she would treasure when she got older.
Reply:you dont have to get her anything. as long as you are a loving and supportive father. now.. once she gets old enough to remember you getting things or not.. then yea.. but when shes born? nah. just love them both unconditionally.
Reply:Flowers are nice for your wife but a newborn does not need flowers. If you want to get her something go make her a teddy bear at Build a Bear. You get to pick the bear ,name it and pick out clothes for it . It's something that she could have her entire life. This can be your own tradition. Good luck and congratulations.
Reply:if she has enough cloth you could buy her a baby mobile
Reply:I think whatever you want to get your daughter is up to you, dont go by anybodys suggestions its your daughter and give her something from your heart something that makes you happy and hopefully that will make your daughter happy as well, she'll be to little but soon she'll love whatever it may be.
Reply:hey u can give ur girl a toy.thats all i know.that my idea.bcuz for whole life ur going to give ur daughter a different different gift.dont wory u will get some good idea

congratulations!! take care of ur new daughter
Reply:Flowers fade, and it's not a tradition I have heard of. How about something more permanent, like a cute, personalized sign for the nursery that accents the décor? They have nice ones here: http://www.mysweetandsour.com/ The artist is a mom.
Reply:you sound so sweet. i have never heard of getting a daughter flowers but i think that is a nice idea. i think one would be appropriate and a color that is different from the moms. so it stands out as being hers. congrats
Reply:In my family the father always purchased the outfit for the baby to come home in. But the idea of a teddy bear or her first doll are good ideas. I think you should give her something that is personally from you that she can have as a treasure when she gets older. Maybe a baby ring or other piece of jewelry. But try to think of something that is special to you. For her it won't matter so much now but as she gets older the fact that you gave her anything special will be important to her. Congratulations on your new baby girl. Sounds like she is going to be a lucky little girl with a very loving father.
Reply:My hubby got my daughter a baby id bracelet and had it engraved with her name and birth date.
Reply:Aww congrats! Just get a balloon %26amp; cute teddy bear! Thats a little more age appropriate than flowers .
Reply:i ahve been told that the daddy should buy his daughter her first baby doll. get one that is somewhat small and all soft, maybe one that rattles.

congrats to you, and i think it is pretty cool that a new daddy is concerned on a gift. it sounds like you will be a great father
Reply:get her like a teddy bear or stuffed animal or blanket that she can sleep with. you should get clothes because everyone gets clothes for a baby
Reply:when I was born my dad brought me a snoopy stuffed animal.. to this day it is still my favorite thing in my house and pretty soon I will be giving it to my son/daughter...=)

(depending on what I have)
Reply:I haven't heard of the rose thing, but if that's what you want to do I would get her a dozen of white roses. She's pure and new. Me personally I would buy my daughter something that she can enjoy as she grows. A locket, bracelet, or a ring. I bought my daughter a ring and a gold necklace with baby feet as the charm. She is 5yrs. old now and she wears the charm and ring on her new necklace.
Reply:I've never heard of the dad getting his daughter something when she's born....but getting your wife flowers sounds perfect...Kudo's to you for being so sensitive!!! Glad to know there's a few good ones left out there!!

P.S. Something that you're daughter will always treasure is a photo of you holding her when she's first born....take a few so you can be sure to get a really good shot, then put it in a really nice frame in her room...it's something she'll always keep and love....
Reply:im 38 1/2 weeks pregnant with a baby girl also and i have not heard that you need to get your baby girl any roses, if thats what you would like to do then its up to you, either way im sure you will not be put down if you do or dont get anything for her. if you decide flowers i would go with pink you can never find them where im from and i think they are very pretty, good luck with everything and i hope your baby girl is healthy
